Discontinuation due to weight loss was uncommon (0.1%). The label notes venlafaxine is not indicated for weight loss and should not be combined with weight-loss agents. In children and adolescents it warns of increases in weight less than expected for age- and sex-matched peers. Weight gain appears only as an infrequent event in a broad post-marketing adverse-reaction list, not as a systematic finding.
