Pill identifier

Identify a tablet or capsule by its imprint, color, and shape. We match against FDA/DailyMed product labels and link to the medication’s full profile where we rate it.

Identification is not a diagnosis. A pill's appearance can differ between manufacturers, generics, and batches, and imprints can wear off — so a match here is a starting point, not proof. Never take or discard a medication based on this tool alone. Confirm with a licensed pharmacist. In an emergency or suspected poisoning, call 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. This is not medical advice.

Enter an imprint (2+ characters), or pick both a color and a shape.

The imprint identifies a pill for certain, but if it is worn off or missing you can start from what it looks like.

Pill identification FAQ

How do I identify a pill?
Type the imprint — the letters or numbers stamped or printed on the pill — then pick its color and shape, and search. The imprint is the strongest signal; an exact imprint match is the most reliable. Color and shape alone return only possible matches.
Is a match a guarantee of what the pill is?
No. A pill's appearance can vary between manufacturers, generic versions, and production batches, and printed imprints can wear off. Treat any result as a starting point and confirm with a licensed pharmacist before taking or discarding a medication.
What if the pill has no imprint?
U.S. prescription pills are required to carry an imprint, but some supplements, compounded medicines, and foreign products do not. If there is no imprint, this tool cannot reliably identify it — ask a pharmacist.
Where does the pill data come from?
Imprint, color, shape, size, and score are transcribed from the U.S. National Library of Medicine's DailyMed Structured Product Labeling — the FDA-required drug labels. We do not alter or infer these characteristics.
