GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy face thousands of lawsuits alleging severe gastrointestinal injury (gastroparesis, intestinal blockage) and, in a separate federal case, permanent vision loss (NAION).
This page is general information about ongoing litigation and FDA safety actions — not medical or legal advice, and not a statement that Ozempic caused any injury. Allegations described here are claims that have not been proven in court. Always consult a licensed professional.
Plaintiffs allege the manufacturers failed to adequately warn that GLP-1 receptor agonists can cause severe, sometimes long-lasting gastrointestinal injury and, in separate claims, non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) — a form of sudden, permanent vision loss.
In September 2023 the FDA added “ileus” (intestinal blockage) to the Ozempic prescribing information.
As of mid-2026, roughly 3,760 lawsuits are consolidated in two federal MDLs: gastrointestinal-injury claims in MDL 3094 (Eastern District of Pennsylvania) and NAION vision-loss claims in the newer MDL 3163. Bellwether (test) trial selection is expected in late 2026–2027.
